About The Facility

Receiving funds from major venture capitalists such as Nissay Capital and subsidies from NEDO, Our company develops DFree which is a toilet timing predicting device to help people from all over the world. "DFree" was named after combining "D" of "Diaper (diaper)" and "Free (release)".

As a result of two years of research and one and a half years of demonstration experiments, we confirmed that by using "DFree", the efficiency of taking care of excretory system can be improved, the diaper cost can be reduced. Furthermore, QOL of the care-receiver can be improved.

Currently, we are preparing mass production of "DFree" equipped with a function to predict urination. And we will officially begin selling DFree to nursing care facilities from the spring of 2017. After building a business foundation based on services for nursing care facilities, we will consider to add the function of predicting defecation timing and develop some personal products and services for supporting independent excretion and so on. With the support  by local governments such as Kawasaki City, we will expand sales from domestic to international, mainly focus on North America, Europe and Asia market.

How We Work

  • Ultrasonic technology

    • DFree monitors changes in your body by ultrasound,which causes no harm and detects toilet timing beforehand. And DFree app sends a push notification providing the toilet timing on the smartphone.We have also acquired a patent on excretion prediction by ultrasound.


  • Ecological big data

    • By acquiring ecological data by ultrasonic waves which no one has ever got, we can build our own algorithm by analyzing the large amount of data. In the future, we aim to predict not only excretion timing, but also all changes about living organisms.

Ultrasonic sensor technology and hydrogen gas sensor technology are examples of technologies for detecting internal environmental changes in human bladder and colon. This section mainly introduces the most widely used ultrasonic sensor technology.

Ultrasonic waves are sound waves that exceed the upper limit of the human hearing range, and are characterized by slow propagation speed and strong reflection. Utilizing the characteristics of ultrasonic waves, ultrasonic sensor technology was invented.

Ultrasonic sensor sends out a sound wave into the bladder and colon and listens for that sound wave bounce back. So it can detect the changes in the bladder and colon.

Current Situation

Image diagnostic and health diagnostic techniques utilizing ultrasonic waves have been widely adopted all over the world. Utilizing ultrasonic waves, it is possible to inspect and diagnose not only the abdomen region such as the bladder and colon, but also other parts of the human body such as the heart, body surface area, blood vessels and so on. 

Ultrasonic sensor has been used as a part of the diagnostic equipment in medical institutions. But recently the ultrasonic sensor-equipped wearable devices also come to life and may become mass-produced in the future. By recording and analyzing biological data, people can confirm their health condition and find their health problems at an early stage.

As for the ultrasonic sensor market, Japanese companies are leading the global market with advanced technologies. Japanese companies such as Murata Manufacturing, Fuji Ceramics corporation have large market shares in the world.

Technology Scheme

The ultrasonic sensor is used to indicate the presence or absence of an object or measure the distance to the object.

1. How to indicate the presence or absence of an object if they hit any:

  • Ultrasonic sensor transmit the ultrasonic a waves and if they hit any object, they reflect back the waves to the sensor, so that it can recognize object.

  • By comparing the difference between the energy of the waves transmitted and the energy of the waves reflected to recognize if there is an object or not.

2. How to measure the distance between the sensor to an object

  • Measure the distance by calculation based on the speed of sound and the time difference between the wave transmission and reception.

Merit & Strength

1. No affection from the material, color or shape of the target object

  • Since ultrasonic waves are easy to reflect, even if the object is transparent or complicate shaped, it can also be recognized.

2.Stay strong in the dust environment

  • Even in dust environments, or in environments where the shape of the object changes, it is still possible to recognize the object and measure the distance to the object.

Demerit & Weakness

1. Affected by temperature and wind direction

  • The speed of sound in the air varies with temperature and wind direction, so it affects the detection accuracy of ultrasonic waves.

2.Slow propagation speed

  • Since the propagation speed is slow, the response speed from transmission to reception will be affected.
